Welcome to Our James Bible Study!

First of all, if you’re reading this, welcome!

We are going to start studying the book of James over the next 6 weeks, and I am so glad you are here!

This week is our pre-reading week; before we get truly stuck into the book of James, we will take this week to consider our goals, consider how we study the Bible and what we can do to improve, read the book of James completely and familiarise ourselves with the context of this New Testament book.

What can I expect from this study?

For those of you who are new to studying with us, here is a little flavour of what you can expect:

  • At the start of each week, there will be a reading plan for the coming week. This will help you gain an overview of what to expect and read each day. We will be taking a week at a time to cover each chapter of James.
  • Monday to Friday there will be daily questions, usually three or four prompts to help you dig deeper into the scripture. These will be designed to help you consider what the scripture is saying, what it tells you about who God is, and what sort of response we can make by personally applying this to our own lives.  There will also be some prayer pointers to help you consider how to pray through these scriptures.
  • Blog posts three times a week that explore the passages a little deeper.
  • Weekend reflections; this is when you give yourself time to reflect on what you have read and learned and prepare yourself for the next week’s study.
  • If you want to discuss the questions and contribute to an online community, then you can join this Facebook group – click here.

How to begin today

I am going to start by urging you to read the whole book of James a couple of times over the week.  Familiarise yourself with it as a book as a whole; as important as it is to break it down, we need to consider it in its entirety as well as its place in the Bible as a whole.

So, why not start with this today?  There are 5 chapters in James, so you could take a chapter a day in this pre-reading week.

Come back tomorrow when we will be considering the context of the Book of James.

Grace and Love
