Be Strong in the Lord

The armour of God is such a well-known metaphor! It’s often used in Sunday schools and is referred to many times when we talk about equipping ourselves.

As we begin our close of Ephesians, let’s take a look at why the armour of God is necessary.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Thoughts for Today

  1. What must we be careful to be aware of when it comes to the battles we face as Christians?
  2. What do you think Paul meant by “the schemes of the devil”? We may not be in a physical battle, but what kinds of problems can we face that are a fight for us?
  3. Why is the whole armour of God necessary? What will it enable us to do?

Prayers for Today

  • What battles are you facing that you could do with some help with from the Lord? Bring them to him today.
  • Let’s ask God to help us stay equipped and ready, with wisdom to know what the devil is up to so as we can be prepared.

Grace and Love
