If you recall at the start of our study in Ephesians, we were looking at Paul’s prayers for the church in Ephesus and how he never stopped praying for them. And his prayer was that they would know God’s great power, that they would have open hearts, wisdom and revelation.

Here we see Paul praying again for the Ephesians as we draw to a close in Chapter 3. This time, though, his prayer has taken a slightly different turn.

While Paul’s prayers are still focussed on God’s glory, this time he wanted them to grasp how great God’s love was for them.

Let’s walk through Paul’s prayer again and see how this can apply to us too.

Thoughts for Today

  1. How does Paul reiterate in verse 15 that we are part of God’s household?
  2. Who do we need to rely on for strength? How does this make it clear that God will be working in our lives?
  3. What does it mean to be ‘rooted’ and ‘grounded’ in love? How should this, along with Christ dwelling in our hearts, affect the way we live?
  4. Paul gives us 4 measurements to consider how much God loves us. What do you think he means and how do you think this helps you understand God’s love for you?
  5. What do you think it means to be filled with the fullness of God?

Prayers for Today

  • Let’s pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ, echoing Paul’s prayers, asking the Lord to help them grasp how much he truly loves them.

Grace and Love
