But God…

Today let’s read Ephesians 2:4-10.

Yesterday we read about how we were all once dead, regardless of whether or not we see ourselves as ‘good people’ or folk who never did anything too wrong. In today’s passage, Paul focuses on the grace that saved us.

Thoughts for Today

  1. What differences does it make that verse 4 starts with “But”? How does it change the tone of this passage?
  2. What characteristics of God are we reminded on in verse 4? Who is God and what is he like?
  3. What difference does the phrase “being made alive with Christ” make to you? What value does that place on who you are, regardless of anything you have or haven’t done?
  4. What does Paul emphasise here about salvation?
  5. What difference does this passage make to the way you view your own salvation? How does it give you hope and encouragement for friends and family you have who seem far from God just now?

Prayers for Today

  • What do you have to thank God for today?
  • How can you ask God to help you truly understand what you are worth to him?
  • Who are you praying for who isn’t saved? How can these verses motivate and encourage you to keep praying?

Are you learning our key verses? Here this week’s…what a great reminder!
